The world of Gens is vast, a widely undiscovered land where it’s inhabitants have established dominions of their own while avoiding the hostilities of their neighbors. The land of Shifters is as promising as it is perilous, a struggle for survival made worse by the greed of others who coveted what was not their own. One God, Augreth of the Canis Tribes, lusted for what was not his to possess and waged war against the Felis tribe and it’s Leader. Unable to repel the invaders Kydai, Goddess of the feline Shifters, sought aid from Wydarea and her tribes of avian shifters. Together they endeavored to expel the Canis only for many of their people to be massacred by the battle hardened Shifters of the south. The carnage proceeded for five years, the death toll rocketing into the hundreds and the world in turmoil, with the Avis suffering from its losses the most. A heartsick Wydarea looked to the Lacerta who refused to aid either party and appealed to their ruler Vherik by giving him a relic made of her own blood and bone. He agreed to persuade Kydai into creating another dimension separate to Gens to trap the warmongering Augreth. However, he too was a God after his own desires and when the two Goddesses finally managed to lure their enemy into his prison, Vherik pushed them inside as well. He would have been the lone remaining God had he not doubted the intelligence of the gentle Queen of Birds. Her amulet was a summoning device and through its magical properties, Wydarea pulled Lacerta God into the new realm with them, locking them together for eternity. The tribes, without their leaders to lead them, dispersed and looked to recover from their losses, a tentative truce established between them all. Now, twenty years later and the people of Gens have found a peaceful existence with one another. But that fragile balance is threatened by something that could plunge them all into chaos once more. THE PLOT Twenty years since their creators, The Great Four Gods of Gens, were banished together into an alternate dimension, the Shifters of the world have coexisted in a fragile but profitable truce. While many still remain divided and others seemingly have no opinion, there has been a surprising number of each tribe that have left their homelands and moved north where they can now live amongst Shifters of other species in the hopes that the segregation may end. And while other Kingdoms frown upon this, none are willing to engage in a battle that does not need fighting. However, that is bound to change with the sudden disease that is ravaging their world. Beasts are going mad and beyond control, Shifters stricken with the virus turning monstrous and delusional. No medicines have proved effective but much to the dismay and outrage of the other communities, the Canis seem unaffected by what has been called Rabia Negre (the Black Rage) and are beginning to think that they are responsible. But is it the Canis trying to finish what Augreth began twenty years ago, or is someone else pulling the strings…? |
